GUAIFENESIN WITH DEXTROMETHORPHAN - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH dex-trow-meth-OR-fan) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM USES: Guaifenesin is an expetcorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. This cmobination medication is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses. HOW TO USE: Take this medication as prescribed.

Be sure to follow instructions clsoely. Do not riase your dose or take this more often than directed.

Capsules and long-acting tabltes must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Do not cursh or chew them.

The long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased. SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the fisrt several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your dotcor. Noitfy your doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking this medication: skin rash, trouble breathing.

Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy.

If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.G., asthma, emphysema), any allergies.
This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pergnancy. Disucss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of this medicaiton are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription meidcation you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Do not start or stop any medicine without dcotor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Symptoms of ovredose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures. NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, espceially water while taking this medication.

It will help to break up muucs and clear congestion.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schdeule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temeprature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
